    3/4 c. butter
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    4 c. flour
    3/4 lb. orange slices cut in pieces
    1/2 lb. dates, chopped
    1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 can flakes coconut, 3 1/2 oz
    1 t. baking powder
    1 t. soda
    1 t. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 T. lemon juice
    1 t. grated orange rind

    Glaze:
    2 c. powdered sugar
    1 c. orange juice
    2 t. grated rind

    Recipe



    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift half of flour over orange slices, pecans, dates and coconut. Sift remaining flour with soda and add alternately with the buttermilk to creamed mixture. Stir in flavoring. Mix flour and and fruit and add 2 grease and floured bread pans. Bake at 300 for 90 minutes, test at 75 minutes for doneness, remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes. Prick with skewer, pour glaze over hot cakes.
