Mother's Easy Cherry Fruit Soup

List of Ingredients
1 lg. can (1 lb. 14 oz.) fruit cocktail, reserve juice (I like DelMonte's "Very Cherry" variety)
1 sm pkg. (3 oz.) cook and serve (Not instant) coconut cream pudding mix
1 sm. pkg. (3 oz.) cherry gelatin ("Jello") mix
2 bananas Recipe
Drain fruit cocktail, reserving liquid, set fruit aside. Add water to reserved liquid to equal 3 1/2 cups total. In a medium saucepan, combine liquid and pudding and gelatin mixes. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and is slightly thickened. Remove saucepan from heat, stir in drained fruit. Chill. Just before serving, fold in sliced bananas. Mother sometimes dressed it up a bit with a spoonful of whipped cream or Cool Whip. Simple, but yummy- a favorite light suppertime desssert.
