Recipe Introduction
This is just regular old hard candy. But you can be pretty creative with add-ins, sprinkles shapes, colors and flavorings. You can make flavors and colors to compliment every season and holiday. It keeps forever, too!
Be very, VERY careful this is amazingly hot and stand back when you add the flavorings; especially things like cinnamon the steam can burn you up!
List of Ingredients
- 4 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. Karo Light
- food coloring
- flavoring
- 10-x
Instructions
- Lightly spray a 9x13 disposable aluminum pan with cooking spray.
- Combine sugar, water and syrup in Dutch oven. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring almost constantly. Stir in food coloring. Continue to cook without stirring until mix reaches hard crack stage (300 degrees). Remove from heat; stir in flavoring oil. Working quickly, spread in prepared pan.
- Let cool. Break into pieces. Dust with 10-x so that the candy wont stick. Store tightly covered.
Final Comments
Flavoring oils:
Oil of wintergreen: 1 ½ t.
Oil of Cinnamon: ½ t.
Cinnamon Extract: 3 t.
