    My husband said he had this frequently as a child.

    List of Ingredients





    1/2 c. bacon grease
    2/3 c. flour
    2 1/2 to 3 1/2 c. heated milk
    1 tsp. black pepper
    2 tsp. salt

    Recipe



    Melt grease in heavy sauce pan over medium heat. Sprinkle in flour, stirring constantly. Cook about one minute, then stir in hot milk, pepper, and salt. Cook and stir at least five minutes. Sausage (browned) may be added.
