    Recipe Introduction

Stamp collecting is called Philately. Nobody knows who collected the first stamps, but it is now considered a rewarding and relaxing hobby. It is also educational. Learning about stamps teaches us about the currency, history, and customs of different countries. There are more than a half million stamps issued worldwide with thousands more being released each year.

ROD RECIPES 2/13/2007 Stamp Collectors Day Cookie Stamp Shortbread

    Cookie Stamp Shortbread

A dough of butter, sugar and flour is formed into balls and placed on a cookie sheet, then pressed with a cookie stamp to make a design before baking.

    • 1 1/2 cups butter
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3 1/2 cups flour

    Recipe

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. (This is important, as the dough can flake off when stamping if not creamed well.) Add flour gradually, one cup at a time. Mix this until well blended, but do not over mix. Roll into one-inch balls, and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Stamp with a warm cookie stamp. Bake at 325F for 15 to 20 minutes.

Number of servings: about 3 dozen
